This Holden bodied Whippet "Tourer" (as they are known in Australia) was registered in Victoria with registration / licence plate 166077 and belonged to Jack and Vida Bassiere when these photos were taken during camping trips in 1940.
The first photo shows Jack with his parents and Aunt camping in the Whippet at Chapple Vale at Christmas 1940. Note the trailer which carried the tents and provisions for the trip. As Vida took the photo, a total of six adults travelled in the vehicle !
The second photo shows Jack and his father sitting on the running board and enjoying a meal on another camping trip - This time at Puckapunyal in March 1940.
